3.0 liter coil pack hotter than Pam Anderson

Anybody have any idea how hot the coil pack on one of these things is supposed to get. With the key turned this one gets so hot that you can't keep your finger on it for more than a second or so.

There was a WIDE varity of systems used on that motor you need to give a Brand and serial # or at least a year<br /><br /><br />tommays

if the key is on/points closed/engine not running it will get real hot because it can't dischage it's spark. BUT hotter than pam

Key should not be left on if not running! That can lead to trouble in more ways than if you get caught by the wife starring at Pam!
