3.0 lx flutter off idle

just bought a 96 searay 175 series 18ft alpha1 gen2 outdrive, took it out on the bay yesterday and i deffenitly under estemated the power and speed of it. only thing i could see wronk with it was some fluttering off idle and a little fluttering getting on plane, but other than that it was awlsome. do you think maybe some carb cleaner and a little tweaking on carb screws would be a good idea? thanks ken

It could, if you know what you're doing.

When was the last full tuneup and timing check? If you can't answer that, I would suggest you start with that and check the compression too.
Do you have the OEM service manual for that engine so you know how to put it in base timing mode for timing adjustmenstsa?

thanks don. guy had a shop tune it last year. only out three times since. i will start by adjusting air screws then check timing. i doo need to get a good manual though. i did put in a new set of plug just before i took it out, the plugs i took out were a little black[figured from just idleing at flushout] ken
