3.0 OMC Cobra on a 19" Sunbird

i have a 3.0l with an OMC cobra drive 15' pich prop. the trans came of a 17 foot boat with same engine but it had a 17 pich prop when i swiched trans.

if i go WOT the max RPM is 3000-3100, boat bearely gows on plain, verry slow, any ideas what i ca do to make this boat go faster and get on plain better.

Spoke with a mechanic and he told me that i canot go to a smoller pich prop, i wander if he is right or not.

i'm open to any sugestions.

Sounds like your down a cylinder, should be overreving with a 15p. not lugging. Unless your tach is way off.

but according to your opening query you have a 19 inch long boat with a prop of 15 foot pitch - thats a hefty old prop!!
