3.0 OMC Engine Speedometer

This both is OMC 1979 3.0 140 HP GM engine. There's no Speedometer gauge. Is anybody knows<br />conversion of 3500RPM to MPH I don't have budget<br />to buy one. I appreciate your help.

George, I presume you need to say what prop and boat you have as this will determine the MPH. The easiest way would be to borrow a GPS from someone on the dock and get an accurate readout, anything else would be a bit of guesswork.

global posistioning sattelite.You can buy them at wal mart for less than 100$ seen them on e-bay for 30$. In a perfect world a 17p prop will move thru 17 inches of water per revolution. It doesn't work in practice though.I'm sure someone will let you use theirs for an afternoon,ask around work or at the the dock,alot of people use them for hiking and driving.<br /><br /><br /> Jim
