3.0 stalls only when docking

yes, maybe it's just pilot error, but this engine loves to quit just before i hit the dock, which means i usually...hit the dock. so it's always when she's warm, after cruising nicely for a while. there's a throttle stop screw i tried turning up but it just screams away at 2k and that's no good either. maybe a mixture adjustment? or a choke tweak? any help would be appreciated.

Ayuh,... 3.0l by Whom,..?? What Vintage,..?? They've only been building 'em for the last 45 years or so...

Will it idle out in the lake,..??
Does it stall when you shift it, or at idle at any time,..??
