I would like to know if any one out there has done this and could give me some directions in any of the areas that have to be modified. So far i have a 4.3 shortblock with no exhaust manifolds, intake manifold, waterpump, thermostat housing, carb., or reverse interlock switch bracket. Will some things from my 3.0 work, like the interlock and carb.. I've gathered i can install a y pipe, 1.85/1 gears and i'm close on the drive area switch. I have a marine alt and starter for 4.3. Any input would be great.

Thanks in advance

What you are asking is very involved you probably don't want to go there. Sell what you have and buy something already set up like you want. It would be less expensive and time consuming.

I have a 1988 21ft with a 4.3 and a alpha 1 drive. I have the 1.84 gear set. The manifolds cost around 300.00 you need a different coupler and bell housing. I like the bigger engine too but unless you can find all the used parts cheap you are talking about 3,000 to 3,500 to fix. Or try to find a 4.3 someone removed to install a 5.7

Ya'll forgetting one important part. The 3.0 uses a front mount and there is no engine stringers that the side mounts on a V6 or V8 uses. So this means that engine stringers will now need to be installed in the boat and glassed in. Not for the faint of heart being a lot of measuring is needed for the engine to align properly. Whole lot easier to sell the boat and buy someing more to your liking.

I've done it...........
The ONLY thing that Can be used off the 3.0l is the Flywheel Cover...........

And, I'll echo the statements above.......
Unless You're Truely in Love with this Hull,
Sell it,+ Buy what you Really Want......
You don't say whether it's a Merc. or What....

Moving a Mountain is Less Work............ :D
