While snugging up the hoist to remove my neighbor's rotted '88 3.0L timing cover, I noticed the front mount followed the hoist up. I wasn't surprised because of a ring of black goo around the head of one of the lags. The lags had stripped out the wood, and someone tried using black sealant to hold them.

I drilled out the holes to 7/8" to accept the heads of a pair of 1/2" stainless steel bolts. Mixed up some applesauce West 105/207 resin/hardener and their 404 high density filler, and embedded the mount/bolts assembly. That filler is specifically for embedding and bonding metal to anything. And it worked. The drill out wood was classic rot mush. But it held solid when I torqued down the lock nuts. I masked the underside and edges of the mount from the squeeze out epoxy so the mount will break away if removed again.
