3.0L GLP-D Fuel/Heat Issue?

Hi,
Need some help troubleshooting a 2006 3.0L GLP-D. I think I have a fuel or heat issue, or a heat issue causing the fuel problem. Was out in the boat running around fine between 3000-4000 RPM for 10-15 minutes. Approaching the dock engine stalled at idle in gear. Could not get to restart (but cranks fine). It sputtered a couple times but never caught. Pulled boat out of water, towed it home and put the muffs on. Started up easy enough. I left it running at idle (with the engine hatch open) to see if it would run indefinitely. After roughly 10 minutes it stalled again and I could not restart it. Same thing. Cranks fine, sometimes sputters, but never catches. I did notice while cranking that the choke lever bounced back and forward a lot. Is this normal? The power lead to the choke has also partially pulled out of the female blade connector fitting (I will fix this tomorrow) but I am dubious overall that this caused it to stall and fail to restart.

1) I verified and do have spark while cranking.
2) Compression is good on all cylinders, 145-155 psi.
3) Tried to start with gas cap off, did not help when I tried.
4) Impeller is good and I believe circulating water properly. Temperature gauge reads 175F.
5) Exhaust elbow can be touched by hand.

Vapor lock? Carburetor problem? Something else entirely? Do we think I am chasing 1 issue that is causing the stall and no restart or separate issues? I expect when I go out tomorrow morning it will start easy on the muffs.

Lastly, from my understanding, the over temperature system would just sound an alarm, not shut the engine off, correct? (in case of a bad sensor)

EDIT: I read another thread a few pages back about a similar situation. His problem was ran out of fuel... haha I will start tomorrow by adding some gas. My gauge reads 1/4-1/2 but his was reading half and was still incorrect.

Its not vapor lock

empty the contents of the fuel filter into a clear container and check the quality of the fuel. is there is separation line between two fluids? (get a new fuel filter)

check fuel pressure. do you have it? what is the pressure

if no fuel pressure, hot-wire the pump by jumping terminals 30 and 87 on the FPR socket

look at the two diodes feeding the FPR coils.

if it was an overheat, you wouldnt be able to hold your hand on the exhaust. however if you havent done an impeller service in the past year, time to do so

verify the fuel gauge. because in boats, they are a suggestion, and not a hard fact.
