3.0L Mercruiser engine noise in Bayliner 175

I have a 2007 bayliner 175. I previously posted a thread about this engine making a knocking/pinging at full throttle. Today I ran up the boat and I noticed the noise at 4500 RPM. It is not constant and goes away as soon as I pull back the throttle. Is this normal ? The engine does not miss or lagg when it makes this noise. This engine may have done this since new but I didn't notice because I rarely rev over 4000 RPM. Does anyone know if this common ? Does anyone have one of these boats that makes the same noise ? I would appreciate any feedback on this issue. Thankyou !

Does it require premium fuel? Pinging is a timing problem caused by pre-ignition of the fuel or improperly set timing.

Did you set the timing per your manual.

Amazing this post got missed from a month ago.Being a 2007 it has the EST distributor, and you must put the engine into base timing mode to set the timing at 2?ATDC, you then need to check the advance timing is working.
What is your top WOT rpm?

Na we didn't miss it.

I think he was pulling 2 tubes with 6 people in the boat at 4800 rpms or something like that.
