FIRST TIME HERE TO I BOATS SO ANY HELP IS GREATFUL

I Have A 87 Sea Ray Seville With A 3.0l I Just Rebuilt The Hole Motor And Took It Out Last Sunday And Went For About A 90 Mile Trip To Brake It In And It Ran Great. The Only Thing I Had A Issue With Was Getting The Cables Adjusted Right,so I Had No Reverse.so I Went Out Today And Only About 10 Miles Just To Get The Cables All Adjusted And The Oil Was All Milky And Didnt Want To Start
I Was In The Water With Outdrive Trimed Up Trying To Spin The Prop
And Adjust The Cables Would This Allow Water To Back Wash,or Is This Poss. Just A Bad Head Gasket. Any Ideas Anyone

yes and no , i was told that if u shift from forward to reverse without hitting neutral which is was doind tring to adjust the cables that u can suck water into the exhaust i hope this is the problem. just because i dont think its head gasket it ran fine not even one miss in the motor even being that milky, just going to flush it and run it on muffs and see if it gets milky again.but if anyone has any other ideas please let me know? thanks

Re: 3.0l Mercruiser Help

At this time that would be your best bet. That way you can find out for sure. Also keep an eye on your temp gauge. I you were runing with the drive up you could of burnt up your impeller. You should never run with the drive. Up you can damage ujoints and many other things.

Re: 3.0l Mercruiser Help

Thanks For The Info I Will Test The Motor This Weekend.
GOING TO FLUSH IT AND DO A COMPRESSION AND LEAK DOWN TEST ON ALL OF THE CYLINDERS I WILL FIND OUT IF THE HEAD GASKET IS BLOWN OR NOT.
