I am having to replace my 3.0L mercruiser. If I want to put a v6 or v8 instead, will it bolt up to my
outdrive?

Bolt up yes, after you change the exhaust.
But the gear ratio is all wrong for a V6 or V8, and NO, just changing the prop will not do it.
If it would, they wouldn't have different gear ratios for different engines.

Is it worth the time and effort (also money) to change out the gearing. The boat is 1991 19' Marlin Fisherman's Cuddy Hardtop. My motor is rebuildable.

Ayuh,.... To do what ya want, basically, only the transom assembly bolted to the hull is reusable,...

The cost of swappin' gears in the drive, is nearly, or more than the cost of just Replacin' it altogether...

Fix yer motor, 'n Enjoy it...

If ya want a bigger motor, buy a different boat, with 1..
