I have a 1991 3.0lx mercruiser with an alpha one drive. It has a 2bbl mercarb

I bought the boat in non running condition. I was told the boat needed a carb rebuild. I have rebuilt the carb, put on a new distributor cap, new plugs and wires, and changed the oil.

Initially the boat would only run at 2000 Rpms and up once the choke dropped off. I have gone through the carb several times now and have gotten it to run at idle but now it bogs and dies as I throttle up. If I throttle up very rapidly it will sometimes get through the dead spot and stay running. If I throttle up slowly it always dies.

What are some things I should be looking for?

It was a mess. It was full of sediment. I was able to get it pretty clean and get carb cleaner through all the orfices. I may pull it and soak it for a couple days.
