3.0LX Temp and Carb issues

Hello,
I have a 1997 3.0LX that this is my second season with the boat. I do not know if the impellar has been changed recently but the last time out the temp was running about 160. This just seems a little higher than it used too. I thought it used to be around 140-150. Any thoughts on this are appreciated. Maybe it's nothing to worry about, it was a very hot day.

Second, I had never tried to run the boat at low RPM's much such as operating around back and forth to a skier. It surges, spits, sputters, and chokes off regularly when trying to operate at low RPM's. Filters are new and cleaned. Boat runs fine running along at most any speed except idle and just above idle. Is it time for me to re-build the carb?

Thanks,

I do not know if the impellar has been changed recently but

Ayuh,... If the history is Unknown,.... Change it....

You may have a tuneable issue, or it may need a Rebuild,... I can't tell from here...

Bond-o I agree that if the history of the impellar is unknown then change it. Mainly though is a 3.0 running at 160 degrees anything to worry about? Should I be headed to the parts store today to change it or can I wait til end of season when I am doing maintenance?

I guess I will see if I can figure out what to tune on the Carb. All wires, and plugs are new and the ignition is electronic so no points. Any other thoughts, comments, suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks

Check the water coming out of the outdrive see if it's warm, hot or cool hot and or warm could be one sign of a cooling parishable issue also the spit and sputtering could be a ign, module loose elec, connection air idle mixture screw adjsment, accelerator pump or bad fuel but don't be suprised if the carb needs rebuilt my 96 just got it's 1st carb job this year and runs great after having some top and low end sputtering issues. hope this helped and good luck universal carb kits to fit all merc and rocester 2 barrels @ aftermarketmarine.com 35.95 + s/h 1- can of berrymens cab soak 19.75 patience and time 0.00 (stay organized and take your time)
