I was recently given a Sea King 3 1/2 as a kicker which is supposed to run but I don't know the gas/oil ratio for the motor. I was told it was a 1978? and the tag says it was made by Clinton with K3505106A and XTV50535A. The decals are mostly gone but being air cooled I assume the mix is not the same as my 18hp rude. Any info on the gas/oil mix and year would be great.
Thanks

I have a 72 Sea King 5hp. Clinton K500 engine. It is supposed to run on 16:1. I suspect they lightened up a little on yours.

You're supposed to use regular 2-stroke oil in those engines...the kind used for chainsaws and weed trimmers...not outboard oil.

I can't say for sure what the correct ratio on that engine is. I run 16:1 in mine and it runs fine. A little smoky, but better that than too lean.

Re: 3.5 Sea King Year and gas/oil ratio?

My after market manual indicates 4 ozs per gallon.
But it is confusingly written.First line says use 1/2 pint per gallon for new or rebuilt motors followed by the 4 ozs per gallon for normal operation. So if a person was to skim the info they might assume 1/2 pint per gallon.
