I'm looking for some advice on the fuel mixture I should be using. I have an XTV-27003A and in the manual it says to use "1/4 pint of Wards Riverside Outboard Motor Oil (or it's equivalent) of SAE 30 or 40 viscosity to one gallon of gasoline. Do not use D.M. or D.S. rated oils."
So I guess my question is this, it there an equivalent available today? Should I use 2-cycle marine oil or chainsaw 2-cycle oil (it seems like I've read both somewhere) and what is the proper mix?
I finally got this to start today after a lot of cleaning and other aggravations. Now it starts great but will only run for 10-20 seconds before stalling. Currently, I'm using a marine grade oil mixed at 25:1. It seems like I remember reading that for these old motors that's a good mix. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
