3.7 block off plate and wire

On a 470 what is the purpose of a block off plate on exhaust riser's?And does all riser's use them?
Also i have a black wire with yellow strip on back of eng. near intterup switch,has a eye conn. on it,where does it go and what is it?

+1 the Dr. On a 470 the coolant circulates through the exhaust and is returned to the reservoir, the block off plate prevents it from exiting with the exhaust. On a 470 the exhaust gasses are cooled by raw water exiting into the exhaust elbow a little downstream from the manifold. Yeah all 470 engines have one, there are at least 3 different ones depending on the year of your engine.

thanks,thats what i needed to know that they all have them.I have the old style(big and heavy).
I think at one time i was having trouble withe the alum. type mantifold because i didn't have the block off plate But now i know.
