You must understand you have 300RPM left in the Basic range...prop for that for hole-shot/water sports...if it ended up at 5850 you wouldn't hurt a thing.

Like Kenny said your not going to hurt nothing,if it's a local company see if you can do a test run with high 5 and see what the numbers are and if it does what ya wont it too,or go to were you bought the boat and borrow a test prop to see what ya like.sounds like its a new boat and you've been talking with them anyway i should let you test any prop to keep there customer happy.

I would think the motor is happier at 5800 than 5500. I did hear somewhere that Merc wanted the Opti's up higher in the rpm range, like nearer 6000 than 5500.
