I bought a 15' Mitchell with a 65hp Evinrude, but no trim and a parts motor 75 hp('82). I just picked up an '80 70hp with trim to put on the Mitchell, but it sat and moisture has slightly corroded the butterflys and linkage. Can I swap out the 75 hp carbs (appear to be in good shape) directly to the 70 hp powerhead without swapping the jets, or do I need to change everything over? I'm not looking for more performance just good running,no problems. Thanks.

welcome to the forum.

I bet the carbs will fit, but at least one of the jets will have to be swapped.

check out www.shop.evinrude.com click on "electronic parts catalogues" you can view part numbers and jet sizes to be sure.

Yes, I looked at the parts breakdown and it appears to be the same except for the jets. I know the 75hp has different tuning and planned on changing the main jets, but what about the idle and midrange jets? TIA

You can swap the carbs with no rejetting. They'll work fine as is. Just leave the jetting in them as they were produced. There's more to the calibration than just jets.
