Re: 3 different forums and no solution for 9.9hp lack of power

I had to let in go for a few days. This stuff makes me crazy sometimes.

I put a load on the prop and it didn't slip. I checked the coil for cracks and couldn't find any.
Wish I had a spare carb to slap on it, but that's hard to do. Oh well.

You seem to be getting frustrated,
why not try following the advise given by the experts.

The only suggestion above I haven't tried is using a DVA meter which I don't have, and actually measuring the float level even though it looks level and worked ok before. The only modifications was the carb cover which was a factory replacement for the old one and cam to carb adjustment. I suppose it is possible the new part is faulty but I doubt it. Like I said it worked before the old cam broke unless something else went wrong in the meantime. Trouble comes in 3's. The original fuel line is back on.

I've been working on small engines, outboards, and some cars and trucks for years and I still can't figure it out. I don't claim to be an expert either. It is probably some little thing. Electrical is not my strong point

I thought you all would like to know it was a faulty fuel pump. It was flooding the bottom cylinder and oozing out the exhast ports, so I've been told.

It still won't start without pre-mix though.

are you sure there is not a pin hole in the fuel pump diaphram, that would cause flooding at high speeds.

Looks like TD nailed in post #4

Yes it does, and I let him know about it. I took the pump off the motor and pumped the bulb and it didn't leak, like a manual said to try. That's what I thought TD meant. It was a new kit.
