3 wire trim sender bad?

How do you properly test to see if your trim sender is bad? I read about doing the 2 wire conversion as well. Is that necessary? How do you do it?

Well the trim sender tests good. I just replaced the trim control module. The trim gauge shows all the way up. Im going to try to zero everything per the installation manual and see if that helps. Maybe when i installed my new control module, i was supposed to do that. But basically my gauge doesnt move with trim, and my tilt buttons do not work. My trim buttons work, but my seperate tilt ones do not.
