I have a 30" transom on a 1960's 16' lone star. It should be 20" but someone rebuilt it to the top of the hull. My max Hp allowed is 80 and I really do not want to rebuild the transom. Is there any way to mount a long shaft motor (20") on a 30" transom?

Any of those fixed jack plates will allow you to mount the motor in the correct position. Tilt/trim of the motor will not be affected. You do not need any setback.

BTW - on a boat that old, I would have thought you would have had a 15" transom(shortshaft), or at most a 20" transom(longshaft).

Chris on a flat 30 inch transon. you have 10 inches of transom above the mount, where is the power head going to go when the motor is tilted, into the transom, you have to have set back, or you don't get much tilt. my little 50 merc requires 16 inches to tilt.

i think if it was orrigionaly a 20 inch transom and someone biult it up to an 30 inch that you could probably cut it down to the proper size with a sawsall or jig saw
