300 sc grey water option

Hi, my boat has the grey water option so nothing goes overboard. I am installing an AC unit and the condensate drain goes to the grey water tank. I am concerned about this as the unit can produce approx 1/2 gallon per hour. This will fill up the tank quick. Does anyone know if there is a way to bypass the grey water holding tank? Is there a valve or something?

Thanks

"I am installing an AC unit and the condensate drain goes to the grey water tank."

Do you mean the installation diagram shows it going to the grey water tank?
Check your local regulations, but I would be running it into a through hull fitting and send it straight overboard.
Not sure of your layout but the Elegante has the sink in the head and the main deck drains going to their own through hull fittings, I would use a "Tee" fitting into the most convenient of these making sure you set it up so that the water can only go one way (overboard). The other option is to fit a dedicated fitting but I don't like too many holes in the hull.

Re: 300 sc grey water option

Yes, none of my sinks go overboard...they all go into a separate grey water holding tank. I have 2 holding tanks. I guess this boat was used on a lake at some point with strict regulations. However, it was all plumbed for AC and the condensate drain hose is already there and connected to the shower pump which gets pumped into the grey water holding tank. I don't see how this is practical as I would have to pump out constantly.

Anyway, I found a device online called the Mermaid Condensator. It connects inline to the water out on the AC and the condensate drain and using the venturi principle, pulls the water out of the drain pan and out of the boat along with the sea water. It is a great idea if you have a situation like me and don't want to just drain into the bilge. I will let you know how it works.
