Hey yall, I just bought a new boat 2 nights ago. The guy I bought it from said he was on the lake the day before. He told me when I bought it that it was in need of a new ignition switch. I brought it home and started doing some tests. I took the battery to Autozone and had it checked, battery good. I took the starter to Auto Zone and had it checked, failed. I bought a new starter and a new solenoid. Installed and not working still. I'm not the best at all this, but I'm thinking I need a new ignition switch to get it running??? What do you guys think?

I'm confused by your question? The boat isn't starting? or even trying to start? Whats it doing exactly? Does it start and then die, or not crank at all?

Not cranking at all with a new starter and ignition: Check the starter relay, make sure its grounded properly and has power on the red wires. Check power make sure its getting power off the ignition switch itself, pull the key cylinder out of the dash, check the wires on the back, if no power to your cylinder then you know you've got a blow breaker or bad ground/wire.

Ayuh,... Welcome Aboard,.... I think ya need a Test Light, 'n do some Diagnosin' to see where ya got Power,...
