The subject motor is a recent purchase: Model Number: 1A3G312EK / Serial Number: OR568876 manufactured in 2013

It needed a fuel system overhaul and three new injectors but now that I have it running I'm looking to get a tiller kit for it. The motor is currently a remote control configuration with electric starter and no power tilt and trim.

Is the 8M0051061 manual/remote to manual/tiller conversion kit the same as the 8M0051062 electric/remote to electric/tiller conversion kit the same minus the electric start components? If so, Although I do plan to take advantage of the charging system, I don't really have a need for the electric starter and am pretty confident I could rig up an aftermarket switch and couple wires later if I changed my mind

The other thing I'm curious about is whether or not I could rig the Tohatsu 3AHQ63000-0 multi function tiller on this motor.

I wound up ordering a Mercury tiller conversion kit (879147A09) from one of our local dealers. It was expensive and kind of a pain to get rigged up but works well. The biggest challenge was probably installing the neutral safety switch. It came with just about everything needed. It required swapping out the shift lever shaft, bracket for the neutral interlock cable, shift arm, throttle arm, remote control bracket, engine wiring harness and adding a handful of other components. It also came with the starter switch, stop button, safety lanyard and switch, alarm horn, neutral safety switch, and shift detent spring/lever and co-pilot friction keeper kit. The only things lacking in my kit were a plastic nut for the starter button and a co-pilot stud/bolt that properly fit the threaded holes in my swivel bracket. The bolt is an 8mm and is just a little too small to catch the threads in the swivel bracket. I can install and remove it without turning the bolt. I'll be starting another thread about this issue.
