30hp NISSAN Power Pack (Can a power pack to a 50HP Nissan work for this motor)?

The power pack to my 30HP nissan quit working (wont give spark to one cylinder). I have good compression in the motor and my wiring, and stator is in good shape. I recently bought a used power pack for $20 from someone which came off a 50HP nissan. The bolt pattern matches up, and the wiring is all the same color.....the power pack part numbers are different off nissan outboard parts catalog, can they still be used? The part number for my power pack to my motor is 34606-2601m and the part number for the power pack to the 50HP is 35306-2601M.....will this be a problem if the wire colors are the same and it bolts up to the block the same? Without doing a reverse lookup to see what CD units go to which motors, I must ask, "What precise model are you working with?"

Is this a 2-stroke 30 hp motor? If so, the timing curves, etc, would be vastly different compared to a 50 ho 2-stroke.

All else being equal, any similar 2-stroke CD will likely trigger the spark so that it will at least run... But whether it would run well is a different question.

Same module...Different spark plug wire length and depending on year, the hook up wires may have diffeent ends.

The model number of my motor is NS30A3. I believe the model number of the 50hp is NS50C. Thanks for your response.

Tohatsu Guru....thanks for your response, fortunately most stuff mechanically I can figure out or know how to do (especially since I have been around boats all my life). I am glad to know the module is the same, I have been told by a few people locally it wouldnt work.....it pretty much looked the same and had the same wire colors, the wire ends were just different. My Answer:

The model number of my motor is NS30A3 (It is a 1992, 30hp 2-stroke). I believe the model number of the 50hp is NS50C.
