All,

Well I did a sea trial on a 310 Chaparral the other day and was a bit disappointed. With 5.0 Volvos, duo prop, full fuel and 700# of people it had trouble getting on plane and only got up to 4300 rpm, with about 35 mph. A bit anemic. Besides it did not have a smooth ride and bounced a bit in light 1 to 2 ft chop... like my old 270 Dancer.

So, I'm now looking at the 310 Doral and the 310 Cruisers. Anyone with experience, please comment.

Goal is for Florida west coast cruising with rarely a trip longer than 50 miles, a few nites a month on the hook, and a lot of just cruising, lunch runs, etc. And, for the most part, loads of perhaps a max of 5 or 6 folks.

it had the wrong propset on it, for sure. If it had lower pitch propsets it would perform better out of the hole and run faster, too. But if you didn't like the ride, props aren't going to fix that.
