Just put a deposit on a 1974 35ft Bertram. http://www.yachtworld.com/boats/1974/Bertram-35-2353770/north-east/MD/United-States

Took some oil samples this past week waiting on results. One thing i was hoping someone here might be able to explain is they say they are 300hp but when we looking up the serial #'s and the engine codes they looked to be 1981 (they said 1987) code is 1W0356 and was the code for not turbo charged thus 210 HP but it has twin turbo?s (smaller ones). Any thoughts?

I was thinking they might be rebuilds. Also seems that engine design changed in 1981 to be stronger with 3 rings vs 1 better heat exchangers and pumps.

One Whiskey Oh Three Five Six would be the arrangement number. If you have twin small turbos you may have a Pantropic Power Systems early turbo "hop up" done to the engines. Give us the serials and I can tell more.

Here are a couple pics of the setup. Turbos are marker M&W. Can anyone tell me much about these?

Re: 3208 engine codes

Well you are correct, they were shipped from Cat as 210 horse NA engines. The serial is old enough that the test cell results, etc are not listed in the Cat system (I work for a dealer) so I am pretty confident they are Pantropic or other conversions. PM me if you need parts etc, we have lots of used stuff!

Thinking should get out of deal as not sure if it breaks it can get fixed with out replacing turbo setup.
