it is an older boat (gulfstream) and the engine is seized how do i remove the engine to unseize it. took the heads off cylinders were full of rust engine still won't turn over so cleaned out the cylinders with a white schracher pad and shop vac then dumped some marvel mystery oil on the cylinders every few days i go out to see if it moves ,not yet,the shifter was in gear ,not sure where the hookup is knowing nothing about the boats to see if it is in gear. someone tore the outdrive apart on the end of the boat i think most of the parts are there. it sat like that for 5 yrs so who knows the washington dot cannot find out. the only no i git is a tag in the engine compartment with the no.1828064 i think it is out of the 60 or 70s. will the enginge come out easy or do i have to get creative.

i think the engine is a 327 as the oil fill is in the front and the cylinder heads casting no's come close as possible to a 327 from about 63 i found a round plate that is a part of the out drive it has a no.382160 185-200 hp omc

Ayuh,.... Still waitin' for pictures from yer other thread,......

It appears at this point that you've got an old Stringer drive, which parts are 'bout impossible to find,...
That, 'n a junk motor, says you got basically, Nothin' to work with,......
OMC has been outa business for better than 2 Decades,...

The cost to put this boat back together will run ya 3, or 4 times what it'll cost to buy a runnin' boat,....

assuming its an OMG stringer

to remove motor, pull trunion caps, disconnect drive, pull drive and set asside

remove boot

undo 8 lag bolts from the 4 motor mounts and lift from boat

then unbolt the intermediate housing from the flywheel

rebuilding an SBC (assuming you can save the block and crank) will be about $1800. buying a re-maned 350 will be about the same

rebuilding a stringer drive just in maintenance parts (ball gears, shim packs, bearings, water pump, split vertical drive shaft, seals, etc.) will cost you about $2500 in parts and if you need to have someone work on it, about $4k in labor

if you love the boat and want to restore it, if your transom is bad, thats half the battle. replace your transom, rebuild for modern Mercruiser or Volvo key-hole get a newer driveline and go boating.

Depends on which volvo-penta motor and drive. May not be worth $100

And to fill the hole left be your OMG stringer, you need to rebuild the transom
