I friend has a 35 Evinrude 1980. The lowspeed trolling works great 3/4s full throttle runs fine, but open it all the way and there is a bad miss. The compression is 100lbs both cylinders, new plugs,New fuel line,Spark at starting jumps 7/16 inch bright blue zap.
I need suggestions the motor is 300 miles away,He tried everything I could help with. Thanks for replies!

Just guessing, maybe a bad power pack with out checking out when the prob occurs with the proper equipment.

The title was a touch misleading. I am glad it wasn't "missing" but running rough. Good luck.

Are you sayind a multimeter with a DVA check? Will it show a bad pack at low speeds even though the problem occures at high speeds?

For high speed misses a timing lite or a cyl drop test work the best. That way you can narrow it down to which cyl/cyls is giving you the prob. The DVA is mainly used for cranking output tests.

simple as this is, pliers-tighten the battery ground. Worth a try.

Battery ground has nothing to do with the ignition system on this mtr.

voting with boobie...an inductive timing light on each sparkplug wire in turn will best diagnose what sounds like an ignition problem..or eliminate the ignition as the source
