I recently was successful installing the prop shaft using two pieces of interior corner molding with a radius larger than the shaft and using a hose clamp to hold them tight to the shaft. I first assembled clutch dog over the ball detents and then drove the wood molding over the detents with a piece of pcv so that both wood pieces slid over the balls at the same time. Molding must be just the right length so that they engage the balls at the same time. The one piece of wood will be slightly longer than the other because of clutch dog geometry and I had to chamfer the leading edge of the longer one to fit between dogs. Next put dog in housing with shift lever piece and then tap prop shift into dog transferring detents from wood molding to dog. Loosen hose clamp and remove jig.
