35 hp evenrude model 35802r

I have installed a new water pump repair kit on this motor, can any one tell me , after starting, how soon should I see water coming out of the "pee" line.
I ran the motor for about 2 minutes , but no water,???? This was with clam shell type device attached.

should be fairly quick with the water pressure from the garden hose if the muffs r on correct

If testing a pump, throw away the muffs and get a barrel with water level at least 5" above the split between gear case and leg. Water should come in a second or two.

You cannot test a water pump on muffs because the hose is force feeding the pump. Even so, you should see water almost immediatly.

BTW, your motor is a 1978 and the water inlet is up front on the gearcase. I wonder if your flusher is fitting it correctly (?)
