Re: 35 hp johnson wot pronlems

ok i checked everything and seemed to be like new.The only issue i seen was one spark plug was very black but i am not sure if that will cause that problem.the plugs looked weird, like i figured they would look like a standard lawn mower plug or car but the end is different.

OK. Let's see.
Forget all the stuff you haven't done that we've suggested... and never mind the stuff that you've done that is off the wall.

What you are now telling us is that you've had the motor for more than 2 years and suddenly it has "weird" plugs?
Is there a number on those plugs?
You are describing (as far as i can tell....no pics) what can only be surface gap plugs (that is not a correct option for that engine, which begs the questions of how long they've been there, and who installed them and why) .....or plugs that have managed to burn off the perimeter electrode....and in the latter case, I'd be surprised if it ran at all..... or maybe one of the new-style v-notch centre electrode plugs....but in any event, none of these belong in that motor....especially if you've had it for 2+ years.

Unless we are all simply feeding a Troll, and that does seem increasingly likely, step one would be to install QL77JC4 plugs, gapped at 0.030" and see what happens.

After that, FR has offered the best advice.... find a competent repair shop.

In Post number 2 in this thread FR suggested that you remove the plugs one at a time to check function. if you had done that and pointed out that "they are weird", we'd have known back then that you were running the wrong plug.

There is a wealth of info in the archives (FAQ) on here to help yourself..... you are too busy to do that.
It is always strongly recommended that you buy a dedicated manual for your motor.....either you have not seen that suggestion (it's all over the FAQ....or are too busy ....or have other reasons not to do that.

In any event, after 23 plus posts, we finally find out that you have been running the wrong plug in your motor for 2 + years.
But, what the hey, it's not your time you've wasted.

I'm not getting smart....just a bit irritated.

Slow down then, and be systematic. :)

Get the correct plug in there and gap them properly. Then if you have the same symptoms, you can do FR's test and isolate the spark problem.
You are running the incorrect plug, and they are indeterminate age.

Also, you said the electronics are new. How new?
Did you renew them on your watch?
Do you know why they were changed out?
Exactly which parts were swapped?

Maybe all related.

Lots of help in here, but work with us. :)

Get a set of Champion L77JC4 plugs in there and see if that makes a difference. I'll bet it does...
