35 hp merc t= stat

i have a 35 hp merc 1985 2 cyl. that burns a lot of fuel! looked for a thermostat to increase heat for fire. cant seem to find it !does it have one?

yes i looked there; maybe I'm blind? Ive broken down this motor almost to the piston but never found 1. looked at various sites and mans. no luck !possibly in the upper coil mounting part #2? plz help with part #. hopefully will help with gas miles .due to $ .seems to run cool which i know is not to bad. possibly 115 degrees

Give us the serial number to check the parts

I just got out the 35/40 service manual and it said that not a 35 HP engines were equip with thermostats they all had the housing but not all had the thermostats installed.

2cyl 1985 35hp merc S# a905265 , good little motor! elect start/choke no tilt or trim .on a 14 ft. tri hull . looks like no t stat . tx for your help ! just came in from fishing ;lost another 7-8 lb er .cheating as i was trolling . only way to fish when water was 92 degrees. talk about global warming 1 st year I've seen it that high!
