Hi there, new to the site but hoping to get some answers from the forum , you guys seem very helpful.
Ihave recently aquired a 35 johnson early 70s pull start, went out on boat on friday with no problems , coming back in to marina and slowed up from doing about 16 nots and engine just died on me, pull started again but as soon as i drop into forward she dies on me , tried several times and did the same thing each time.
Had carb off and cleaned and fuel pump with diaphram all checked ok , new spark plugs, sparks good, she idles fine in flushing drum , again as soon as put forward into drive she just chuggs out and dies ??? fuel line from fuel cell is good with pressure from bulb ok too, please please any ideas would be hugely appreciated as Im struggling now , thanks , regards Matt.

You need to post this in the Evinrude Johnson section.
See if the choke keeps it running, if it does it indicates poor fuel distribution.
Be sure all passages and jets in the carb are clean and float adjusted right.
Be sure it is running on both cylinders.Just pull one plug wire at a time.
