I am undecided, my current set up is a 5.0 alpha one gen 2 tahoe q6 should i stay on the safer side and cam up alittle 350, or push the limits with a mild built 383? I mostly want more hole shot but also like top speed, currently my ign is a thunderbolt 5, I am hitting the rev limiter with a 21p offshore at 54mph on speedo 4900rpm can the rev limiter be changed? I have proped up to a revolution 4 23p but that was to much pitch maybe a 21p would bring the rpm down, what do you think?

There are just to many directions you can go for a simple pat answer. For example if you want to load a bunch of people in the boat and want to have good power there is no better answer than a built 383..If you want to spend 1500 on a well buiilt 305 that will be much improved from what you have now then all you have to do is build the top end of the 305...cam carbs and valve train...You can also buy a nice 350 hp crate motor and marinze it for about 3500.

Speaking from personal experince just uprgrading the engines cam and valve train was enough for myself...When im loaded i run 2 pitches under and when im out having some personal fun i just prop back up to the boat full potential.

Seriously consider if you want the boat to be able to run hard with a load of people and not a big hull to support the load...I find running at 50 with a 19' boat and 6 people just a bit to hairy for my liking and 40 is a bit of a struggle...Remeber at those speeds you not only watching the water and the boat you also have a bunch of people in a confinded space...with a lot of adrealine it can be eventful.

Now running 50 in a 26' boat with people is much more fun

No adjustment to the rev limiter. You will need to change ignition to get higher rpms.
