Re: 351 heads on 302

yep
with the right gaskets and intake and T-sta housing it will fit, may not work quite right but it will fit on some years. I cant remember all the variables but there was a bit of head/intake interchange between the 289/302 and 351W motors. about all that interchange from the 351C amd M motors is the blue paint.
maybe someone will be along to get specific years.

You can use the 351 heads but they need to have the bronze guides. Some came with them and others need to be changed. You will also have to use a bushing kit for the head bolts. The 351 has 1/2" bolts and the 302 block has 7/16" bolts. ARP makes a swap bolt and Edelbrock makes a bushing kit if you want to use your 7/16" bolts.

70's Merc 188's and OMC 190's used 351 heads that were drilled for the 7/16 bolts from the factory. They did not have bronze guides.
You can use any automotive 351 head as long as they have the right combustion chamber size for your app. You do have to use the T adaptor bushing washers tho.

http://store.summitracing.com/defau...sults=false&N=0&target=egnsearch.asp&x=25&y=9

The truth be known, there is no difference between later 351 and 302 heads except for the bolt size. All the valves are the same size except for the early 69'ish 351's.

If you're looking for the best flowing heads, they came on the later 302's. The GT40 and GT40P heads. Mustangs and Explorers. They used the 7/16 bolts.
