35HP Johnson-Evinrude parts compatability

Hi, I purchased a boat a couple of months ago that has a 1980 35HP Johnson on it. I have had it running, but it has issues. (I will post questions about these issues, after I do some more investigation on my own). My question is, there is a 1980 Evinrude 35HP motor for parts in the local classifieds. Am I right to assume that most of the parts should be identicle eg. Carb, coils, and other ign. parts. As i said my motor does not run well, and I could more easily zero in on the prob. if I could change the parts out, one at a time.
Any info would be appreciated

Thanks, after I posted this, I started comparing part #'s and they all seem the same. I may be s.o.l. on the parts motor, though, The guys got someone coming to see it first, before me. It will prob. be gone and make it harder for me to troubleshoot mine lol.
