Engine: 2005 Mercuiser Turn Key Start, Alpha One Gen 2 Drive Serial: 0W356097

Issue: When I accelerate gradually from idle up and onto the plane I hit a dead spot at about 1,400 to 2,000 rpm. The boat literally wants to stop and stall and some times does. If I throttle past this rpm point quickly I don't have this issue at all.

Idle is set at 700rpm and boat doesnt run on at all (used to prior to reducing idle and richening idle mixture).
Timing is fine.

Ive done some searching and have found out about the adjustable accelerator pump....

My boat does have this adjustable arm and from memory its in the middle position, where should I change it to and do you think this will fix my issue?

Cheers,

Chris

Your accelerator pump wont cause this. Keep in mind that it act's as a one time enrichment circuit when you take off. It's only purpose is to compensate for the instantanous lean condition caused by the opening of the throttle plate. It does not affect driveability at cruise speeds. You may have a low float condition causing this. At wide open throttle demand. the power valve supplies addtional fuel to the venturi, which I'm thinking at the higher speeds your not having a problem. Don't change the pump arm because this was added because of the lack of an accelerator pump check ball. This was Mercruisers solution to an over rich circuit

You do have an issue at cruise speed. Cruise speed can be considered any speed running constant on the secondary circuit of the carb. Your's just happens to be in the rpm range you listed.
