Hello Everyone

FYI- I was in Home Depot yesterday and noticed 3M 5200 in the 10 oz tubes for $7.96. I have never paid less than twice that for the product. Either it was mismarked or we are getting our heads torn off worse than I thought. They had several cases of white in stock. 5200 in white was the only product of that type they had.

Just thought I would pass it on.

That's where I always get mine... the markup at the "marine" stores is horrendous. Home depot sometimes even has coupons.

FYI, the online version of their store actually has a few marine items..

It's true!!! Even in the Home Cheepos in the Northern Va area.... about 9.00 per tube. It's not marked as "marine" Just 5200. I have a tube I'm getting ready to use. Having no experience with it; I wonder if it's as strong as reported??

Oh, yeah it is....... don't plan to EVER take anything apart that's bonded with 5200. It's good stuff. 3M 4200 is just as good but the bond can be broken, so it's a better choice for items you might want to remove someday.

The stuff I bought is the same as what I bought from West and McMaster-Carr.

FYI-McMaster-Carr is a large industrial supply house. They have warehouses all over country. The website is great and the selection is even better. It is a great source for SS fasteners. I live in Little Rock. I placed and order, online, at 5 PM yesterday and the stuff got to my office, from Atlanta, at 10 AM this morning with standard shipping. UPS from Atlanta is two days. I do not know how they do it but the service is great.

I had always heard this, but when I went to pull my transducer off a couple weeks ago, it came right off. Fought a bit, but not as hard as most people mention.

Don't blame the caulk. If it pulled off without a struggle then it means the area wasn't prepped properly.
