2002 Fisher deckboat with a TKS 4.3 and alpha gen2 drive:
So after fighting a no start issue, i replaced the fuel pump and got the engine to fire up and run. I then go to set the boat in the water and take off only to realize the boat is not shifting into gear, only revving up. Its like the button on the control lever is stuck in and wont disengage? won't shift into forward or reverse.
my dad was pretty aggresive with the throttle lever while we were fighting the starting issue. is it possible he could have broken the button/mechanism that disengages it from gear? when moving the lever, the shift cables on top of the engine do nothing and the throttle cable moves in its full range of motion. again the shifting cable does nothing. if it does happen to be the throttle lever module, are the internals typically replaceable or am i looking at replacing the entire assembly?
edit: just wanted to add that everything was working perfectly before today and our no start issue.
any thoughts are greatly appreciated, thank you!
