Hi

I just bought a 1986 Seaswirl (4.3L mercruiser 185 HP electronic ignition) and have been going over its parts. I pulled the distributor cap and found that the sensor/mag pick thing was quite rusty. I called a local marine parts place the guy told me the cap should be sealed from moisture. The bottom of my distributor has 4 holes in it, they look like they came from the factory that way. Does anyone else have these holes in there's? They look like they where put there for mounting stuff, maybe for the ignitions with points? Also there is a brass 90 degree fitting coming out the side of the distributor cap, looks like a hose should connect to it, mine has nothing connected. May be it's just a vent?

Thanks for any help
Steve

The holes are normal.the brass 90 is a vent.no hose goes there.
