4.3 locked up need tool to turn motor

Yup, take off the drive. Remove spark plugs. Try the starter. If it won't spin then you'll want to pull the balancer and use a small block chevy crankshaft socket.
They have em at the performance auto stores in my small city. $15. With that you can put nice even force on your crank.

Also remove drive belt......... could be locked up waterpump or alternator, plus with belt removed it will make motor easier to turn.

Recently had a starter motor bolt shear, seems that it is not uncommon, anyway it caused the starter to bind and jam with similar symptoms. It's an easy check.

Update,i ordered tool for crank it wouldn't turn,soi decided to take drive off,drive is stuck.I;m thinking it is siezed at gimble.outdrive came like 1/8" out,but that must be play in something else.Is there anyway to pull it off without pulling motor,and hammering.out drive out?

To remove a stuck drive, reconnect the hydrolic rams, raise the drive, put a block of wood between the drive and transom, lower drive. Repeat as needed by adding more wood to walk the drive out. Expect thebdrive to pull the gimbal bearing out when it comes.

Question, how do you replace the bellows without getting all the water out? If the bellows are truly replaced with new I dont think it's possible for them to retain water... Of course if the new ones were not iinstalled properly they could leak.

i decided to take drive off, drive is stuck.

Also did you put the drive in full forward gear?

right, it has to be in forward gear to remove.

yeah its in forward gear.theyll pull anyway wont they.well the boat i stripped the other day outdrive pulled right off then i noticed i forgot to put in forward,but that was pre alpha.can that cable hang up?I spun the prop it was in forward.

Yeah these searays dont leave much room around motor.can barely get to hydralic pump.hope its just cylinoid instead of motor.

nice trick guys it worked,but motor still locked up.man that bellow was loaded with rust particals,hands full of stuff.really sucks motor stuck.
