4.3 merc MPH what do you get?

Just wondering what MPH people are getting with 4.3 merc<br /><br />I have a 18' open bow trimed out, on smooth water, 3 people in boat, spedo show 54 MPH

D-B-W, I think that is pretty high. You may want to check that with a GPS. BTW - I get 42MPH on my 19' open bow/4.3LX

You are doing very good for thje setup. <br />Hull shape is a big factor in this case. <br />For example: Deep V shape has more of the hull in the water. Therefore, more drag = less speed.

I get 53MPH on GPS with about 10 gallons of gas...<br /><br />19 foot Wellcraft 4.3L Mercruiser 14X23 prop

Also, I am running a Balistic 21 prop and turning 4800 RPM. <br /><br />I will be checking speed with a GPS next time out.

Checked speed with GPS, 51 mph full gas and two in the boat. Speedo was about 3-4 MPH fast
