I picked up an 05 Tahoe Q4 and took it out for the first time yesterday and ran into my first issue. The boat runs out great but when I pull it back into the neutral position it stays in F. If I let it runs like that about 10 seconds or so I can pull back like trying to go to R and it’ll kick out into neutral and then I can put the lever back in N and it stays there. Putting it in Reverse does the same, click it up to N and it is still in R. Bump it forward to F and it’ll disengage to N.

One other thing, the boat operated at 120 degrees all day and never moved higher, isn’t that low?

Does it stumble when you change gears? The revs should drop as you try to come out of gear. This is a new to you boat then? Pretty common for people to disconnect the shift interrupt switch when the lower shift cable fails, rather than fix it correctly. The switch is behind your shifter cables, there's a roller attached to the switch (I'll try to find a pic). If you manually activate the switch while the engine's running, it should stall.
120 is low if the temp is accurate. People for some reason like to remove thermostats...

That would be the shift interrupt switch. Connect it up. Running on muffs if you push the black cam to either side, the motor should die. Read up in the link I posted so you know what it is doing.
