4.3 OMC...

I took my 88 larson 18 foot with the 4.3 omc. I feel like it sounds loud, like there is engine noise or a motor mount going badno louder when in gear or not so I don't think its the drive. But it runs like mad. any ideas????sugestions????

Hello, I'm not much of an OMC guy so I might not be right on with this question....but....did you check the obvious? Check your exhaust system carefully. When you say "it seems to run loud" I assume you mean exhaust. Your system might have exhaust bellows (if it's like a Merc ) check to see if it has any tears or rips. It is under the outdrive where it tilts. It would cause the engine to sound louder when running.

Sounds like lower engine noise but it resonates thru the fiberglas and that makes it very difficult to tell where it is coming from. I may just be paranoid, because i know what happens getting stranded. been there, done that, and helped others but ya know. sorry I can't be more specific, I will check the exhaust syatem though, thanks.
