Nope not a question post.
After some helpful insight from Bondo, Kagee and 4.3Sunbird, I have decided to repower my 94 Bayliner Capri (4.3 L Vortec V6 w/ roller cam, balance shaft, block no 196) with a 4.3 Vortec from a 95 Chevy 2500 Conversion Van (4.3 L Vortec V6, roller cam block number 753).
Today I was at Harry's u Pull it junkyard for the last day of $65 dollar engine week. http://www.wegotused.com/HazleSpec.htm Rambster and Old-Man Stanton help tremndously. WE had the engine out in about 2 hours. (thanks to somebody else made our job easier and already pulled the trans) Thanks to my buddy Jerry for letting me borrow his cordless sawzall. I liked the van motor for three reasons 1) it had 137K miles on it and turned freelyin the junkyard, and was free from leaks. 2) how the engine is mounted in the van protects it from the weather better than a blazer or S10 with its hood up, and no major components were missing. 3)this vehicle had a serious case of body and frame rot so it was most likely there because it couldn't pass inspection. So this engine will be the canidate for a total overhaul. So I have the two engines in my garage and am ready for a good winter project ( the old MErc 4.3 and the Chevy 4.3).
In case your wondering why not rebiuld the merc? Wait till you see the pics.
I would love to post some pictures of my progress to act as a guide to help others along later, but I cant paste pics into the forum here, any advice.
