What happens when a coil starts to go bad? I have an 89 4.3 mercruiser in a Sea Ray 200 BR which has no power at WOT once the engine reaches operating temp. It runs perfect until it is fully warmed up. I have changed fuel seperator, plugs, temp is fine, no water in the oil. Any ideas?

Hey Nova.... you need to re-post this with specifics.
The folks who might help you only look for problems they know about, so "what happens when....." just isn't specific enough to do you good.
You'd be better off using as a title, something like: "My 4.3 Merc has no power at WOT but runs good until warmed up."
Using this new title you will attract a bunch of good folks who know all about 4.3 Merc engines.
So go ahead and re-do the posting using this kind of title... it don't cost nothing and the results will amaze ya.

Nova,

This is a long shot but check it anyway.

When I bought my 4.3 it would loss about 5 knots and 500rev when warm. Very long story short, as the block and distributor warmed up they lost good electrical contact. Made the dissy electronics change the timing curve. Ran a ground wire to the dissy body and haven't had a problem since.

Chris...........
