I have a 1987 4.3 v6 chev.the question is that the previous owner put two screws in the intake manifold on the left side of the motor by the choke side in-between 4 and 6 intake.looks like he try ed to block something.what are they for.i noticed a loud ticking noise on the lest side of the motor thats when i saw the 2 screws.i took them out and ran the motor and put a rag and covered them the loud sound went away.what are they for. I know its not right.need to fix.thanks

It sounds like you are talking about the provision for the stove style choke. That would be stock.

The two holes where do they go.Are they hoses that run somewhere. Any pictures of how they run and where they go.

I don't have pictures, but there should be a metal plate with a slot. The two screws hold the plate on. Under the plate should be a metalic spring that attaches to a rod, and attaches to the choke plate on the carb. maybe the owner converted to an elec choke and the old stove pipe style is not needed.

The electric choke would have two wires going to it on the left side of the carb.Thats how its set up on my motor.

Correct. One wire is probably black for ground, and the other for 12V when the ignition switch is on.

You do not need the stove type provision.

Ayuh,... They just go into the exhaust cross-over,...
Plug 'em Up, 'n don't worry about it...

One hole is a screw hole and the other is an alignment hole for a pin on the bottom of the choke stove assembly. If you have an electric choke then, as Bond-O says, don't worry about it. Take the screws out and leave it empty if that's your rattle.

Better to plug them like Bondo says rather than leave empty.

I am going to plug them today. If I leave them unplug-ed it sounds like a bolt or a nut is in the motor, real loud.
