So this will be my first outdrive water pump replacement. The only other one I've done is on a 1969 Evinrude 115 with electric shift- so please excuse my ignorance
So the question is, are there really no cables going to the bottom of the outdrive? I can really just put the thing in forward, loosen the bolts/nuts and let the thing slide right down/off? Then its pretty straight forward when you have a pump kit what to do (I think/hope). Pretty much swap the impeller, gaskets, face or intake plate, and then just put the two pieces together? Seems to simple to be true, but thats how it always seems right before I get my *ss kicked by a first time project
I also heard you should only use a real mercruiser water pump kit, if this is true can someone point me towards the right part number for it (Alpha 1 Gen 2). Also should get some of the permatex just in case or is there something else I can use that would be available locally?
Thanks for helping the newb fellas
P.S. One more question, sorry I just thought of it. If my engine has a fresh water/belt driven pump then does that mean I don't have one of the rubber impellers in the outdrive?
