took the boat out today after having it sit with a near empty tank for 6 weeks. Noticed at first the power was down, but after a few minutes it kicked into gear. It basically wouldn't go past 3000 rooms for a minute. Drove over to the marina and filled it up (always ethanol free). About 5 minutes after filling boat was have some hesitation and backfired a few times. Also while running at 3500 rooms the alarm went off a few times. My guess is do to a lean condition? Basically drove around a bit than parked it for the day. I keep it in a slip on a lake so it's in the water most the year. Going to change the fuel filter next time I'm out. Anything else I should check? Oil pressure was spot on and temp guage was at normal operating temp.

Thanks in advance.

I would need to check my manual to be 100% sure, but I believe on our motors the alarm only goes off for a low oil pressure or overtemp condition.

I would pull the distributor cap and look for corrosion on the contacts.

Boat is a 2007 four winns with 4.3gl and Volvo sx drive. Oil pressure and temp are good according to gauges.

I have a similiar issue with a 3L volvo and the alarm going off once warmed up. There is a temp sensor on the riser elbow and on the t-stat housing. When the alarm goes off try disconnecting each sensor and see which one turns it off, also once warm physically touch the riser and see it is it cool warm or hot. The boat i worked on had a piece of impeller lodged in the bypass port of the stat housing. Just some places to start. Report back after trying.

I'll check that out. Thanks. Let you know this weekend.

Changing cap, rotor, plugs, and fuel filter this weekend. Hopefully that will do.
